The weather was finally feeling like fall with cooler temperatures and gorgeous sunshine the day of Miguel and Cecilia’s wedding. Cecilia was dressing at her parent’s house in Chicago while Miguel prepared for their day at his parent’s home in the same city. A musician serenaded Cecilia with some of her favorite songs while she was getting dressed, and even her dog, Ruby donned a white dress with pink flowers for the occasion! Her details were gorgeous—she had a jewel encrusted gown, pink and white flowers and gold details. Her sparkling gold shoes had black satin laces, and her bridesmaid gowns were trimmed in gold. Meanwhile, a Tamborazo performed for the groom and his groomsmen, and Miguel and his guys were enjoying the music while they dressed for the day. We got some great shots of them out on the sidewalk with the musicians from the Tamborazo.
Prior to the ceremony, the bride and groom exchanged gifts and letters. Cecilia gifted Miguel with a watch and a note with “don’t be late”.
The ceremony took place at St. Procopious Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. The sanctuary was absolutely gorgeous—cream colored walls and detailed arches lined the aisle to the alter. White tulle pew bows trimmed in gold hung down the sides of the pews. The alter was adorned with fall décor—corn stalks, pumpkins and mums looked lovely with the other décor. It was a very emotional moment when Miguel and Cecilia saw one another for the first time walking down the aisle. Their ceremony was sweet and traditional, and they sealed their vows with a kiss.
Following the ceremony, we headed to down town Chicago to get some shots of the couple and bridal party with the skyline in the background. Although it was crowded with people, after searching for a few minutes we finally found a location that worked well for their wedding photo backdrop!
Once we finished shooting their wedding photos, we went to the reception which was held in the Bedford Park District. Their reception was set up to mirror The Great Gatsby and the theme of the roaring 20’s. The venue had recently been remodeled, and their table set ups with the white chairs and “Great Gatsby” theme was beautiful. The bride, groom and family helped to create the decorations and centerpieces, which really gave the reception a personal touch.
We were so honored to capture this beautiful day for Miguel and Cecilia—we wish them the best as they head off for their honeymoon in Cancun and their happily ever after!
