They say rain on your wedding day is good luck—and I know for Lezley and Jovante it was! These two met while in pharmacy school and said “I do” on Saturday at the Eaglewood Resort and Spa. The clouds built up, the wind blew, and there was a steady rain for most of the day—but we were able to sneak out for a few minutes when we got a break in the weather to capture some portraits!
Lezley and her bridesmaids had cute floral robes that were embroidered on the back, and we captured a few pictures of them in the robes once their hair and make-up was finished. Then we worked with Jovante and his groomsmen.
Lezley’s mother helped her into her beautiful gown and lace-trimmed cathedral length veil. Her gorgeous bouquet was composed of large red, yellow and white roses and lots of greenery.
Originally, the ceremony was to take place outside—but the weather didn’t allow that. Lori and Eileen, the coordinators, did an excellent job moving the location inside and decorating the room. They put in a little extra effort just for Lezley and added extra flowers, candles and a while aisle runner. A string quartet provided the music, Lezley was escorted down the aisle and she and Jovante were pronounced husband and wife!
About that time, we had a break in the weather so we ushered the bridal party outside for some photos! We rode on a golf cart over to a bridge where we shot some portraits of Lezley and Jovante and then we headed over to the reception.
The tables were decorated with white table cloths, gold plate chargers, burgundy chairs and napkins and tall white floral arrangements with hanging glass candles—it was truly beautiful!
Their four-tiered cake was adorned with a large spiral spray of red, yellow, peach and white roses. It was stunning! They put so much thought into their details.
During cocktail hour and the reception, a Mariachi band performed. At one point, when the band was playing “Guantanamera”, one of the guests got up from his chair and one of the mariachi band members gave him his guitar, and the guest played and sang! The first dances were sweet and Lezley dedicated the song “More Than Words” to her mother and they also danced.
Because they met in pharmacy school, their favors were little prescription pill bottles filled with M&M’s! It was the perfect favor for their guests that represented a part of their story!
Throughout the day I was worried that Lezley would be disappointed with the rain…but she never was! She said she wasn’t worried about it. She was more excited to marry Jovante than anything else. Saturday was a perfect example of how, even though you might not have ideal weather on your wedding day, you can still have a gorgeous day! Both Lezley and Jovante had great attitudes about it and were focused on what really mattered—their marriage! Lezley and Jovante, we hope you have an amazing honeymoon in Hawaii! Thank you for allowing us to capture your beautiful day!
